So who is this Lauren girl anyway?

Hi! How the heck are ya?

And I’ll just say it again, I am so glad you are here!

My name is Lauren and I live my day to day with chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction, along with the inability to properly absorb nutrients through my digestive tract. Therefore, I’m on TPN. It’s a bit of a mess, but hey, we do the best we can with what we’ve got, right? I have what some nurses like to call The Cadillac, meaning I have a Hickman central line, a draining G-Tube, and a separate J-Tube that I use for administering medications. These three devices do a really great job at keeping me happy and healthy, and for the most part out of the the hospital. Which is SO great, because for lots and lots of years of my life (really all the way up to only three years ago) I was in and out of the hospital constantly. A frequent flyer, if you will.

I’m here to share what I’ve learned over the course of the past decade in dealing with this illness, and some of the devices that come along with it. I’m also here to help build a community of hope for better tomorrows for my fellow CIPO friends. While also reminding us all that it is more than okay to be a pretty couch potato and take it easy when our bodies aren’t acting as we’d like them to. And last, but certainly here not least, I am here to help educate anyone who may be curious about the lives we lead.

Outside of the whole medical part, my life is full of all sorts of things! I’ve recently gotten into taking photos, and LOVING it. I am a brand new Oley Ambassador (if you aren’t familiar, Oley is a wonderful foundation who provides education, advocacy, and networking to those living on nutrition support!) I am a Wish Granter with the Make A Wish foundation. I have a precious husband named Anthony, and a precious pupper named Elway. We enjoy watching Good Mythical Morning on YouTube daily, treasure hunting for vintage finds for our little apartment, and going to all the fun activities that happen in our little adorable town of Fayetteville, Arkansas!

If you are interested in reading my whole history to get an idea of how I got to where I am now, here is a list of the posts telling my story in chronological order!
